Faith on the Road – Our Lady of the Mountains – North Conway, New Hampshire

Spread the love

While staying in southern Maine, we were just minutes from the New Hampshire border and about a half hour from this beautiful gem in the mountains of New Hampshire. Our Lady of the Mountains sits amidst scenic mountain views.

Not as small of a church as it may appear outside, it was great to see a mostly full church on Sunday morning. And, maybe more exciting to see and hear so many young kids at Mass. Most churches we attend seem to have more gray hair than not, where often we are on the young side of the age average attending Mass. So, it is always great to see young families at Mass.

The deacon was a born homilist. He wasn’t showy or anything. He just went ‘off the cuff’ as Connie said, he used no notes and kept moving his gaze around to capture everyone’s attention as he gave his thoughts. He touched nicely and smoothly along all three readings and tied them all together very well

Beautiful statue diorama over the altar featuring Our Lady of the Mountains – sorry the sun was too bright to capture the Mountain View outside that window.

This side area was beautiful. Featuring the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the left. Sorry they turned off the lights right as I snapped this hot. The image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary made me think this is how we should look to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As Mary does, with yearning, love, confidence and trust.
