Faith on the Road – John XXIII Catholic Church

Spread the love

St. John XXIII Catholic Church is located in SW Florida, outside of Cape Coral. This is a wow Church and by looks, an incredible Catholic community. The KoC was present, probably about 20 Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and a choir around 25 along with the Pastor, Presiding Priest and deacon.

The 11:15AM Sunday Mass was a full house within this huge building that seats 1,350 in the main Church and 300 additional in the “Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel”. There was quite a mix of age groups with a large child population – probably about 50 kids went to Children’s liturgy and came to sit at the altar for Father’s wrap up and blessing, the parish is a 20,000 square foot complex, housing nine multi-use classrooms with office space, fellowship hall, indoor/outdoor stage, and commercial kitchen, serving more than 3500 families in 2018. There is a senior apartment complex on the grounds.

The first Mass was celebrated in the main nave of the Church on the evening of Holy Thursday, March 24, 2005. The Church was formally dedicated on April 9, 2005 by the Most Reverend John J. Nevins, Bishop of Venice, Florida.

St. John XXII celebrates both English and Vietnamese Masses on the weekend.
