Faith on the Road – Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church

Spread the love

Bringing the Road of Faith close to home for this week. Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church is located in Carnegie PA.

This is a small but active parish located just outside the city of Pittsburgh. The church has become home for my wife and I.

The community is very warm and welcoming. Father Jason, the pastor, is an unabashed Catholic priest who in unafraid to speak the truth of our faith and the expectations placed upon (and against) us as Catholics in the world today.

The building and iconography aids in the strong sense of reverence brought to life in the celebration of Divine Liturgy. Father Jason and Deacon Myron take extra care in the reverent manner in which they handle the Liturgy and all aspects of their faith. Both are very welcoming to new members and visitors.

As I sit in this small church gazing at the altar, I can’t help but feel a tug upward into Heavenly realms. The incense fills the airs, lifting our prayers to the Throne of our King.

The beauty of the Liturgy is accentuated by its age and life. It’s great to see something so old can still so beautiful. The Divine Liturgy we sing each week is virtually unchanged since the 4th century.

Of course, as in the Roman rite Mass, Divine Liturgy bring us to the Eucharist. The Ukrainian Church celebrates the Eucharist with total reverence and live of He Whom we received in Body and Blood at each Liturgy.

I invite anyone in Pittsburgh to join us for Divine Liturgy each Sunday beginning at 11 AM. The more you come back and participate, the more you will se the beauty within this parish, priest and Liturgy.

730 Washington Avenue, Carnegie, PA. The schedule for Divine Liturgy is as follows: 8:30 AM (Ukrainian) Divine Liturgy, 11:00 AM (English) every Sunday.

“Shout joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song. Know that the Lord is God, he made us, we belong to him, we are his people, the flock he shepherds. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name; good indeed is the Lord, His mercy endures forever, his faithfulness lasts through every generation.” -Psalm 100:1-5
