Our last Sunday prior to heading home to Pittsburgh for a few weeks of family and friend time brings us to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Pigeon Forge is the home of DollyWood and tons of entertainment and worldly sightseeing, also of a diamond in Holy Cross Catholic Church. This was a “WOW!” Church with an incredible priest celebrating Mass.
The priest’s homily was on the ‘cave of St. Michael” in Gargano. Italy and the Archangel, St. Michael. Our visit was on the Feast of the Archangels. Outstanding homily! This is a priest who gets it. Observing him during the Eucharistic prayer and consecration made me think of St. Padre Pio and the tearful love seen as he celebrated Mass.
The Mass was done very traditionally with communion kneeling rail and even announced, “as. Catholics, we believe the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus, and here at Holy Cross that means we receive Him on our knees and upon our tongue.”
This is a WOW Church within a center of secularism and worldly entertainment.
