We leave Arkansas heading back to the Eastern Time Zone and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We broke the 13 hour drive into two days, stopping near Lexington, TN – not far from the site of Shiloh National Battlefield. Our overnight stay takes us for Vigil Mass at Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

This is a quaint little church in the Bible Belt of America. Of course, we know, we find THE Bible church within the walls of the Catholic Church.

Andrew the Apostle – Saint Andrew, was an apostle of Jesus. According to the New Testament, he was a fisherman and one of the Twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus. The title ‘First-Called’ stems from the Gospel of John, where Andrew, initially a disciple of John the Baptist, follows Jesus and, recognizing him as the Messiah, introduces his brother Simon (Peter) to him.

St. Andrew is said to have been martyred by crucifixion at the city of Patras in Achaea, in AD 60.
