Today is a different focus of “Faith on the Road.” This morning our RV, Faith, takes us not to a church or shrine but to a wonder that shows all God’s magnificent glory and grandeur. A place that shows God was present before the earth was set and in that moment He began a masterpiece to take everyone’s breath away.
“O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.” Psalm 104:24
The Grand Canyon is awe inspiring for sure. To look over those magnificent vistas takes one’s breath away. Seeing this sight for the first time inspires and enlivens the soul.
It’s funny though that after a day of hiking up the rim trail, one almost becomes bored with the sights. Everything starts looking the same after a few hours. Yes, there are moments of wow at a view but overall, one starts to blur with another.
Funny that is how our faith can be. When we first ‘meet’ God, we are blown away. Our souls are inspired and aflame with the passion of ‘seeing’ this Majesty. But, as the Road of Faith continues and we journey through the years, we tend to lose that inspiration and wonder. We can start to miss the enormous blessings right before our eyes. Yea, here and there something pops before us that inspires us, reminds us of that first moment, but, everything else begins to blur together into a chalky image. Our eyes start to lower to watch the trail and worry over the rocks we step through, losing sight of all the beauty and majesty surrounding us on all sides.
We need to fight this lackadaisical mindset. We need to keep our eyes up and never lose sight of the majesty of God. We need to hold to the awed joy of that first meeting, that first time our hearts were set aflame when we realized God was there, and not just there, but right in front and around us. When we ran to everyone with hearts afire, telling them of what we found.
Every day, every moment, even in the rocky and steep trails, keep your eyes on Jesus and be reinspired by His glory and majesty. Let your heart always be on fire.
Enjoy the images I share of our journey to the Grand Canyon. None capture what inspired me that day – these moments are to share but we’re from God for me alone. The same as our Road of Faith. We witness it firsthand and are moved, we want to tell the world of what we saw, show the pictures, write the book, but nothing can convey what God shares to inspire the soul upwards to Him.
