Faith on the Road

Spread the love

Today we are heading home. For the first time in six months, our road of faith brings us back to our home, friends and family.

We journey where God sends and at His guidance. We have met some souls along the way with whom we’ve been able to speak and share of God. This morning, sitting in peaceful prayer, I can’t help but reflect on where we’ve been. How this journey continues to unfold.

Twenty one years ago, I was a very different man. I wouldn’t meet my wife for another week not God for months past that. This woman started me on the Road of Faith and has walked with me every day since. Jesus changed everything!

When I began this journey down my road of faith, I was a very timid man. I didn’t know much about our Catholic faith, about my faith nor about God. I had never heard of Divine Mercy. The first steps into becoming who I am started by more of a crazy leap than a baby step.

My friend, Bob, comments how much I’ve changed and grown since we met a decade and a half ago. He saw me as that timid ‘new’ Catholic and sees what I am now. My wife has seen a lot of the same and more within our lives.

Amazed, I often look up to God in prayer and ask “how did I get here?” God simply replies, “you trusted Me and said yes.” It all comes down to saying yes and taking a step. Don’t look around for crowds watching you nor at the storms that may surround. Just take a step and move toward God.

Our road of faith is meant by God to lead us home to His side. Each step forward is a simple ‘yes’ given to God and His Divine Plan. Being a man of God is not easy nor is it an overnight change. For most, unless you’re like Saul/Paul, change gradually. With each step down the road of faith, each little ‘yes’, we learn to love God more fully – with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength.
