“Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.” Romans 5:18
Every temptation thwarted overcomes Adams sin. The Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus overcame all sin and broke the chains of death by death.
“I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church.” Colossians 1:24
We know that what Jesus accomplished was perfect. So, why would St. Paul say this in Colossians? Today, I ask you to meditate over these verses and think of how with every temptation you overcome, you are “completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions.”
I believe in my heart that every time I am faced with a temptation of sin, I stand in Adam’s place. Do I stand for God or fall into sin? If Adam would have stood up to the temptation presented him, how different the world would be. He didn’t which is why we needed Jesus to come and carry His cross and suffer His death. We face our ‘Garden’ moment each time we are tempted.
How will you respond? Fall into that temptation and join Adam or stand strong in the mission God gave to you?
