“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” Psalm 40:4
Wouldn’t it be awesome if this new song got stuck in our head and in our heart?
This is a new song. Not a song of past despair or of guilt. This song is one of praise to the Lord. A song of forgiveness and unfathomable mercy. This is a song many have heard but few echo and sing out for others to hear.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t carry a tune, your life can sing. God doesn’t give this new song to you because you’re choir material or have been talented all your life. God puts the new song of praise into your mouth, into your soul because you are willing to sing out.
It is from the desolate pit and mire that God lifts the soul. And, from this pit the soul rises with a song of praise.
“Many will look on and be awestruck, and they will place their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who places his trust in the Lord,” Psalm 40:4-5
Sing out the praise welling up in your heart. Shout out the joy overflowing in your soul. Others may look at you funny as you raise this song of praise, but, not because you’re weird or can’t sing. They will be looking because the same song is being pressed down in their own soul. They will hear the joy of your life echoing within their heart. They will let go and sing along. Soon you might have a choir singing with you. Trust me, the more who join your song of praise, the better the song sounds to God’s ears.
