Drops in the Ocean

Spread the love

The song “Drops In The Ocean” by Hawk Nelson explores the theme of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness for humanity. The lyrics convey a message of acceptance and understanding, emphasizing that God wants individuals just as they are, not as they feel they should be. The repetition of the phrase “If you could count the times I’d say you are forgiven, it’s more than the drops in the ocean” suggests that God’s forgiveness knows no limit, surpassing the vast number of drops in the ocean.

St. John Eudes wrote, “…if we were able to count all the sins of men, which are more numerous than the drops of water in the sea, we would be able to count the wounds of the loving Heart of Jesus.”

Imagine Jesus facing this immense amount of sin while He knelt in Gethsemane or while He hung upon the cross atop Golgotha. Man had committed trillions upon trillion up a factor of trillions of sins since Adam, Eve and Cain. As St. Eudes said, “more numerous than the drops in the sea.” That is mind-boggling.

Yet, Jesus came forward to be lashed for every sin, to hang on the tree for every sin. He did this even for the sins of the unrepentant, and of those who would despise Him through the ages.

Yet, if you take all these immeasurable sins and dropped them all into just one single drop of Jesus’ blood, the sins would be overcome. And, Jesus doesn’t just offer a single drop of His Precious blood for mercy, He gives Oceans of Mercy to the repentant soul.

If you take my most vile sins committed be a repentant soul, and dropped them and all their sins into this ocean of Mercy, these sins would vanish into the ocean of Mercy.

The Lord calls out from the garden in anguish for the souls who refuse His mercy and turn down the path of Hell. He cries from the cross that all may accept His Mercy.

Break the stone of your heart, go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation now. Beg God for mercy upon your every sin. Ask God to open the floodgates of Heaven’s Ocean of Mercy. Let the flow of this Ocean of Mercy wash over you, mingling with your repentant tears, your tears of joy in His Mercy.

“From this sea of mercy, graces flow out upon the whole world. No soul that has approached Me has ever gone away unconsoled. All misery gets buried in the depths of My mercy, and every saving and sanctifying grace flows from this fountain.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1777

My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of my goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed myself to be nailed to the cross; for you I let my Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depths of My mercy. Do not argue with Me about your wretchedness. You will give me pleasure if you hand over to me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 326
