Drawing Close to God – Part 4: Faith

Spread the love

Faith!

Faith: noun – complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

Faith is such a key part in drawing close to God. Without faith, how can you…why would the soul even want to draw close to God? “And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Thomas didn’t have faith on Easter morning when his brother disciples told him that Jesus had risen and come to them. “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.” John 20:25 A week later, Thomas’s doubts washed away in a torrent of grace and faith flooded his soul with on elf the great proclamations of Christianity, “My Lord and my God” John 20:28

We don’t believe though because we see, we see because we believe. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

Faith overcomes obstacles, often one of the largest is fear. Fear of being unworthy or fear of not having enough faith. ““I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24. Have no fear of lacking faith. Faith comes from God, it has nothing to do with you or how much faith you have.

The great thing is that it doesn’t take much faith to move a heart to God – “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 19:20

Jesus said to him, “If you are able!—All things can be done for the one who believes.” Mark 9:23

Just believe, even a little bit. God will show you His power and love. He will lead you to see Him so that you may believe. Even if you don’t “see” God moving in your life, trust that He is. He is calling your heart to life and lighting a spark to your spirit that your faith may burn bright.

Ask God for faith to believe, ask Him for an extra share of faith. God will overflow your heart as He did Thomas’. Allow Him to move in your life and your soul will shine with a holy blaze of faith. i

Faith s what makes a great apostle. Even the apostles sitting in the upper room had faith in Jesus to wait for His promise. And, the Faith was set ablaze. Within minutes, they stepped out and their faith shown so brightly that “about 3,000 received His Word and were baptized” Acts 2:41

It all starts with a small seed given by God the Father. It only takes our yes to allow the Precious Blood of Jesus to bring that seed to life. And, the Holy Spirit will bring that seed into a great faith.

Follow the example of the Blessed Mother. She didn’t know what he Son would or could do. She just knew He could do something, she believed and as she walked away, she told the servants “do whatever He asks” John 2:4 Mary walked away, didn’t look. All or stress about the outcome. She just had faith in Her Son.

Do you believe God can change your heart? Why not believe He can and let go of your handholds and strongholds and fall into the arms of faith. Give God a faith mic drop, “Jesus, I cant do this, so I’m counting on You because I know You can” and walk away.
