Doubt and Faith

Spread the love

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

Do you doubt at times?  Or do you have faith?  This is an exceptionally important question to ponder.  Begin by asking yourself these questions:  Do I listen to the Voice of God?  Do I hear God speak to me and do I comprehend all that He says?  Without these first steps, faith is impossible.

Hearing Him speak can only come through prayer.  And the form of prayer we need could be called “soaking prayer.”  Soaking prayer is a form of prayer by which we allow ourselves to daily become immersed in the Voice of God revealing His holy Will.

He speaks to us all day, every day.  Little by little we listen, comprehend and respond.  This produces the gift of faith and that faith will lead your life.  The question is do we seek to hear? Do we then seek to listen?

So many today let the world’s noise drown out any chance of hearing God’s whispering voice. He comes to us on the street, in the food banks and in our cubicles. Yet, we are so busy with our schedule, we don’t see Him. He whispers into our hearts and lives, words of guidance and love, yet we are so busy with social media and television that we don’t hear His voice. Then, when the storm comes or questions befall us, we wonder where God is and why He is silent. Then, the enemy’s voice of doubt speaks, that we hear and to that we listen.

Start today simply by slowing down, raising your eyes from your phone, and looking. Shut off the TV or whatever noisy thing it is, in silence listen.

Get used to this and suddenly you will see and hear God everywhere.

“Suddenly, my soul was thrown into great interior darkness. My soul was filled with bitterness instead of joy, and my heart was pierced with a sharp pain. I felt so miserable and unworthy of this grace and, conscious of my misery and unworthiness, I would not have dared to so much as approach the feet of the youngest postulant to kiss them. I saw the postulants, in spirit, beautiful and pleasing to the Lord; and myself, an abyss of misery. After the conference, I flung myself at the feet of the hidden God, midst tears and pain. I threw myself into the sea of God’s infinite mercy, and only there did I experience relief and feel that all of His omnipotent mercy was enveloping me.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1108

Reflect upon this process in your life and renew your commitment to start at the beginning so that the Lord will lead you one step at a time.
