“Were a soul like a decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint, there would be no [hope of] restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full. Oh, how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy! You will call out in vain, but it will be too late” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1448
Many souls feel they need to wait until they are perfect to approach Jesus. They believe the soul needs to be in a perfect state of grace to even glance His way let alone come before His thrive Holy throne.
Praying this morning God spoke to my heart telling me there is nothing further from the truth. Jesus desires for us to come to Him even in our brokenness and with all our sins – sins dark as scarlet.
It is true that nothing will come before God that isn’t perfect, this is the purpose of Purgatory. But, Jesus doesn’t want us to wait for a soul of pure sainthood, He tells us through St. Faustina that the ‘wretched soul’ should come first. He says the sinner will find itself more miserable if it doesn’t approach God’s mercy in its fallen state – “how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy!
“My Secretary, write that I am more generous toward sinners than toward the just. It was for their sake that I came down from Heaven; it was for their sake that My Blood was spilled. Let them not fear to approach Me; they are most in need of My mercy” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1275
Just read Luke 18 to see how Jesus feels toward the sinner who comes recognizing his sinfulness. “He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other” (V 9-14)
Don’t wait to be perfect or even presentable, come to Jesus now. Come from where you are at this moment, even if your soul is covered in the excrement of sin. Just come before Jesus on bender knee and ask for mercy.Just come and trust Jesus and the Father’s Divine Mercy.
