Do you want to be a saint?

I pray God give me the grace to be a saint. That is a lot of grace – more grace than all the drops in all the seven seas and all the grains of sand on their shores combined.

Hmm, knowing the sinner in the mirror – probably more than that. Though, only one drop of His Precious Blood is enough. Oceans of grace is the grace He freely and abundantly offers me, that and so much more by far. Actually, our Lord even told St. Faustina that the “The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy.” (Diary 723)

He started pouring His grace in to my soul the day I was baptized then confirmed His calling at confirmation. Then, locked it in the day I was given sight.

He now feeds me a strong high power diet in His holy Eucharist.

He didn’t let the grace He offers sit and wait for me to claim it. No, He pursued me – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. He continuously pours His Divine Grace into my soul, until my soul is full enough to see Him. He hasn’t stopped there but continues to pour His grace into me drowning me in His Divine Mercy until my soul sprouts wings, seeking to sour like an eagle to once lofty heights.

He wants more than all else for us to be saints. That is why He created us – to be with Him forever in heaven. ‘This is the will of God – that you be a saint’ 1 Thessalonians 4:3

French novelist, Leon Bloy once wrote, “The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint.”

Until that day of sanctification I will pursue you, Lord. I will seek You in the Sacrament that opens Your floodgates of mercy to my heart – reconciliation. I will seek transfusions of Your body, blood, soul and divinity through Your Eucharistic bread and wine – until I take on Your attributes. I will seek Your mind in Your Holy Scripture. I will seek Your will Lord in perseverance and prayer. I will not constrain Your will and power with prayers that fall short of anything less than sanctification and Your Divine presence forever.

And someday when I am walking those streets of gold i will know for sure that it wasn’t me or my works that merited this existence but all about God’s mercy and overflowing graces.

Do you ever pray for sainthood? You should, that’s what God wants of you. That’s who the Father created you to be – from before He said ‘let there be light’, the Father thought of you walking the earth as His hands on the path to standing beside Him forever in Heaven. He desires this so much that He came to earth to show us the way and to die to open that way.

This upcoming Divine Mercy Sunday and the promises Jesus set upon this day gives us all the chance to start new on the path to sainthood. His mercy can make it happen. Tomorrow, we begin to pray the Novena of Divine Mercy. With this Novena, I challenge you to pray and think as a saint.

Like St Terese Lisieux, let us pray to be saints and not only saints but great saints. Imagine the world then!
