“Let souls who are striving for perfection particularly adore My mercy, because the abundance of graces which I grant them flows from My mercy. I desire that these souls distinguish themselves by boundless trust in My mercy. I Myself will attend to the sanctification of such souls. I will provide them with everything they will need to attain sanctity” (Diary, 1578).
The desire for sanctity, to be a saint should be our driving focus.
“The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint.” Why? Because to be anything less than holy is to remain unactualized.
God desires to give you the “desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4). God created the soul from His pure desire to love the creation. The soul was created to love God and be loved by God. Jesus tells us to be holy as the Father is holy. That is the only way to complete what God created for the soul.
I know that someday I will be a saint and I pray like St Therese Liseux that I will be a great saint. I want actually to be a living saint because I want to be the light on earth that leads others to know and love God. But never doubt that the only way this meek and sinful man will ever achieve sanctity, the goal which the Father has in mind for me since He breathed into me, is through the power and grace of God. I depend on Jesus’ assistance to “provide me with everything I will need to attain sanctity”
All souls can be confident in the Father’s desire your it’s sanctity and that He will provide the soul everything it needs to fulfill its destiny and to join Him in Heaven. The soul needs only to give its fiat to allow God’s guidance and will in its life and them comes from living the words of Jesus to St Faustina “Jesus I trust in You”
