“Today bring to Me the souls of priests and religious, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me the strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them, as through channels, My mercy flows out upon mankind.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1212 (Day two of the Novena to Divine Mercy
“Priests have received from God a power that he has given neither to angels nor to archangels . . . . God above confirms what priests do here below.” John Chrysostom
Holy priests, what can be said about these great men who have literally given their lives to let Jesus work through them. “In persona Christi” (“in the person of Christ”), they allow Jesus Himself to bring the greatest of all miracles down from the lofty heights of Heaven’s throne to earth. The Eucharist is given us through the hands of Jesus by the hands of these holy priests.
Jesus gave the power of Divine Mercy to the Church. Through these Holy men the floodgates of Mercy’s vast ocean are cranked wide to flood any soul who comes before Jesus Christ veiled behind the face and voice of these holy priests. “I am only hidden by the priest … I Myself act in your soul” Divine Mercy In My Soul # 1602
“The Lord wills that his disciples possess a tremendous power: that his lowly servants accomplish in his name all that he did when he was on earth.” St. Ambrose
There is an army of priests throughout the world but only a few stand out as God’s true warriors. Men who are open totally and fully to their vocational call. The invitation of Jesus to be His representative. Men willing to give their fullest measure to God. Men willing to stand out at all times before and within the world as priest.
“Were there no forgiveness of sins in the Church, there would be no hope of life to come or eternal liberation. Let us thank God who has given his Church such a gift.” St. Augustine
Think of the holy priests you know and have encountered. For me the list is very distinguished – men like Father Levi, Father Adam V., Father Adam P., Father Mike, Father Mike A., Father Jason and Father Joe. These men stand as spiritual giants and men who I humbly call friends.
Today, join day two of the Novena to Divine Mercy’s call to God for these men who are the conduits from Heaven itself to bring down to the Church the Holy Blood and Body of Jesus handing to us the Eucharist. Men who bust open the gates of Heaven’s mercy, Divine Mercy upon those contrite souls who know the need of God’s grace and mercy.
