These two words express total belonging to Jesus through Mary: “Tuus totus ego sum, et omnia mea tua sunt,” St Louis Marie wrote, and he translates his words: “I am all yours, and all that I have is yours, O most loving Jesus, through Mary, your most holy Mother”
What is the first step to more deeply receive the Holy Spirit?
True, full devotion to His spouse, the mother of Jesus, the Son.
“When the Holy Spirit, her spouse, finds Mary in a soul, he hastens there and enters fully into it. He gives Himself generously to that soul according to the place it has given to his spouse.” St Louis De Montfort
St. De Montfort wrote, “perfect devotion means, doing everything through Mary, with Mary, in Mary, and for Mary, in order to do it more perfectly through Jesus, with Jesus, in Jesus and for Jesus.”
Mary gave herself fully in her Fiat, allowing in this surrender the Holy Spirit to overshadow her. In this moment of surrender, the Father gave His Divine Son to her care.
It is within our fiat that we can become united with Mary’s fiat and find the Holy Spirit, at her invitation entering our soul more deeply. In this overshadowing, we become more united to the Spirit and receive the Son from the Father.
When we say yes, completely to Mary’s care, giving ourselves totally to her, we open wide the doors of our soul, inviting the Spirit within. We invited the Spirit through Mary to overshadow us – that we may become a resting place for Jesus. And, seeing His Blessed Spouse not only at the door to our soul, but, comfortably resting within, He comes fully.
According to St. Louis de Montfort, total consecration to Jesus through Mary is “the surest, easiest, shortest and the most perfect means” to becoming a saint. I add that maybe this is because in total consecration to Mary, we are totally filled with the Holy Spirit. Sanctified in Holy Fire. Through a small fiat of ours, like Mary, we open our souls to let the Spirit overshadow us and our hearts, minds and bodies that Jesus may enter and find a worthy dwelling place.
