In the series, The Chosen, Matthew says to his friend, “I have only one thing to do today – follow Him.”
“During meditation, the Lord gave me knowledge of the joy of heaven and of the saints on our arrival there; they love God as the sole object of their love” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1592
Imagine a world, imagine yourself, if the soul had this singular focus. No worries or stresses in the world, simply ‘follow Him.” Doing this, there probably would be no stresses of the world which could break the calm of the soul.
“He makes life very simple. Every morning I wake up, my ideas and fears are jumbled, I feel overwhelmed with doubt and regret. But if I just pause for one moment and remember, I hand only one thing to do today, follow Him. The rest will take care of itself.”
Like the character says, I wake and my ideas and worries jumble. Work stresses add and fears and regrets make a swirl. It can feel overwhelming. This can steal the joy from a soul.
Yet, it is so simple. ‘Follow Jesus.’
The rest takes care of itself. This doesn’t mean the stresses or worries or fears vanish. Trust and peace in Jesus isn’t a magic trick. What it does mean is peace in the moment. The yoke these fears, regrets and stresses applies is removed and exchanged for His yoke.
““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30
From this one thing the soul needs do flows graces and love of God. When the soul focused solely on God, he can reflect God clearly.
“they also have a tender and heartfelt love for us. It is from the face of God that this joy flows out upon all, because we see Him face to face. His face is so sweet that the soul falls anew into ecstasy.” – Divine Mercy in Mu Soul # 1592
So simple yet so hard to do.
Start today simply – pause for a moment…
