“Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.” Exodus 33:11
What is your relationship with God like? Do you know the Holy Spirit – intimately? Do you talk to Jesus as if He were right before you? Do you have a deep, tender relationship with the Father that allows you to come to Him for advise and help?
We often pray at God very well. We say our “Lord’s Prayer”, “Hail Mary” and Glory Be. We even may come to God to tell Him what we need – expecting graces to flow in immediate yes. Yet, running like Jonah when God asks us something we don’t want to hear.
But, do we place a chair opposite us, one in which Jesus can sit and then, just talk with Him as a friend? Not talk at Him but WITH him.
Personally, I am not so good with prayer. Both, in praying to God and talking relationally with Him. But, He speaks to me. Most often, He speaks through the Bible, the Gospels, Psalms etc. Holy books and audio studies – like Father Dave Pivonka on his shows and Hallow’s Holy Spirit reflections. I am much better at telling God when I need Him then I am of just sitting with Him. I do love time before the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration though. Nothing like being directly in His presence to settle my mind and soul.
Start today by making some coffee time with God. Sit with your mug and just talk with God. Each person of the Trinity is always present but, each is present in a special way when needed. Need a boost? Holy Spirit! Need a father’s guiding hand? The Father! Just need a friend who gets it? Jesus!
Come Holy Spirit! Bring us the fire of You! Bring us a heart, mind and soul to seek You and come into an intimate relationship with You. We don’t know how to do this correctly and fully…so we ask You to help guide us and draw us into this relationship of love.
