“Come Holy Spirit” – Give Us ‘WIFI’

Spread the love

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Roman 8:26-27

Yea – the ultimate WIFI has existed long before Alexander Graham Bell or Steve Jobs. Prayer.

Sitting quietly and talk with God is the greatest form of communication a soul may ever have. Even greater and stronger than with your spouse who is ‘one flesh’ with you.

God sits with the soul as he walks through his challenges, needs, victories or sorrows.

Find a quiet place and time, and sit (or kneel if inspired), be silent. Wait! What?!? How can I be silent and pray? Yes, the key to prayer is to start with a silent heart. Recollection and silence give the soul time to settle next to God’s knee. Imagine, the stressed, anxious soul coming to God. What do you imagine him doing? This soul paces and stresses and circles the room, anxiously trying to express his struggles. But, despite the urge to pace anxiously, if the soul sits at Jesus’ side to collect his thoughts a moment – peace can settle. God knows what the soul needs and what struggles he faces. So settle first at His knee. Let God rest His hand on your head as you feel His tender presence. Then, calmly converse.

“I’m the Lego man, everything is awesome. I am good now.” Then, I say schedule double the normal time for prayers. You need most to realign your mind and heart to God. The easiest time to lose sight of God and become lost is when things are running perfectly. The devils whispers in overtime to capture your heart – convincing you how much of this you did, forgetting all God does.

“I’ve sinned, He won’t want me near Him nor will He want to talk to me.” Stop! Shut up! This is when God wants you most. This is most when the Father wants to draw you near and press you to His Most Sacred Heart. The prodigal felt the same urging and look his father came running to meet him. How much more will the God of Mercy run to you?

So now, go find a quiet place and moment, silence your heart and mind. Then, look up into God’s eyes. Maybe you’ll be inclined to share your thoughts, maybe not. He knows them before you do, but, He does love to hear your voice – maybe even more than we desire to hear His.

Your quiet place may be one of solitude in the early morning or midnight hours. Or, it might only be 2 minutes at your desk prior to the next meeting or opening emails. Take it!

“Prayer.-A soul arms itself by prayer for all kinds of combat. In whatever state the soul may be, it ought to pray. A soul which is pure and beautiful must pray, or else it will lose its beauty; a soul which is striving after this purity must pray, or else it will never attain it; a soul which is newly converted must pray, or else it will fall again; a sinful soul, plunged in sins, must pray so that it might rise again. There is no soul which is not bound to pray, for every single grace comes to the soul through prayer.” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 146
