“If you don’t know to which port you want to go, no wind will take you there.”
The key to any search is to know for what you are searching. Really sounds silly, but if you don’t have an ‘X’ on the map, you will never find the treasure.
The only desire of the heart must be God. Everything else leaves us wanting or disappointed.
The Holy Spirit is present in the Word, so that when the Gospel and Scriptures are proclaimed, the Spirit of God opens that Word alive for you. It’s not just something that’s read out of a book.
“I just don’t get anything out of the Scriptures.” That’s an indictment on you and on us. It’s not on the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit is present in the Scriptures.
The soul can without doubt hear and experience the Holy Spirit in a very real way simply by diving into Holy Scripture. The Bible is the map, life’s instruction manual. Within, all throughout, the history, words and stories is THE ‘X’. The True and only real treasure – God.
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” – Matthew 13:44
What would you give to find this greatest treasure? What would you ‘sell’ to find God hidden within prayer or scripture or the Mass?
Would you give an hour in the evening or maybe your day staring at the NFL on Sunday to find this treasure? How about owning this treasure? To know God intimately is to ‘own’ God. This is what God desires of you. He came to earth in search of what He values most – you.
Come Holy Spirit, we seek You. We desire to find and take possession of the great treasure that is the Trinity. Hear us knocking on the door as we seek through the treasury of the Bible. Open the doors that we may allow You to enter our soul in new ways. We search for You, we ask to receive You. We trust You to answer and give us all we beg of You. YOU!
Time to seek and find Him Whom your souls desires more than anything and everything the world has to offer.
“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
