“Come Holy Spirit” – Give Us Fortitude

Spread the love

“My Jesus, despite these graces which You send upon me, I feel that my nature, ennobled thought it be, is not completely stilled; and so I keep a constant watch. I must struggle with many faults, knowing well that it is not the struggle which debases one, but cowardice and failure.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1340

All souls struggle while on earth – we are the Church Militant after all. We are still fighting and in the fight. Daily struggles come at us from all sides – some small and seemingly insignificant, some big, some huge and some overwhelming. Each struggle should be offered to God as a sacrifice. The soul can hold onto the words of St. Faustina – “…if God demands a sacrifice, He does not withhold His grace, but gives it to the soul in abundance.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1341

Even in what feels like the most overwhelming and dire circumstances, God is at work and building up the soul.

My deepest struggles of faith when my daughter was most ill, and even at death’s door, built fortitude within my soul. Ultimately through learning trust.

When the souls fully trusts God, he lives in the moment. It is in the moment that he find “I AM.” Upon finding this truth, in trust, the soul learns that storm or overwhelming typhoon of life has no impact because God is in the boat with him and has full control of the crashing waves. When the storm ends, either here on earth or later in Heaven, the soul is stronger.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

Every challenge we face is in the full charge of God. He will at the very least permissively allow it that the soul may be strengthened in fortitude for his Road of Faith. At the end of which the soul finds his loving God.
