Come Holy Spirit – Give Me a Weapon

“When you look at the rosary in your hand it appears very simple, that little string of beads, yet how far that short chain reaches, what a cosmos it encircles, how closely it binds us to God and to Mary. You hold the power to change lives in your hands.” – Venerable Patrick Peyton

“The rosary is not merely a series of Ave Marias piously recited; it is Jesus living again in the soil through Mary’s maternal action.” – Dominican father Marie Etienne Vayssiere

The rosary brings souls to Jesus and Jesus to souls, all through Mary. The prayer of the rosary is essentially a mini catechism and the New Testament on a string of beads.

The truths contained in the sacred mysteries of the rosary have the power to convert hearts and minds to the fullness of faith by infusing them with Divine Revelation.

The meditative, picturization of the life changing events of Christianity is summed up in the mysteries of the rosary.

To pray the rosary is to make a mystical pilgrimage with the Blessed Mother as a guide through salvation history shown in the New Testament. It is a journey to the holy sites of our redemption. A trip “back in time” to the moments of Jesus’ life and works.

Praying these sacred mysteries of Jesus Christ leads us to conversion, confession and Communion. A trip along the beads as they slide through the fingers brings a soul into intimate contact with the events of his salvation.

The Holy Rosary is the greatest weapon against the world and its ruler today. According to St, Louis DeMontfort, the rosary is the greatest prayer after the Holy Mass.

The rosary takes the soul from the Annunciation and visit of the Archangel, through the birth of Jesus, His baptism and mission to proclaim the Kingdom. It leads the soul through the wedding at Cana into the Institution of the Holy Eucharist in the upper room. We travel up the hill with Peter, James and John to witness the Transfiguration then down into the garden to keep watch with Jesus as He prepares for the scrounging at the pillar, and crowning with thorns. We get to watch Jesus as He carries His cross – maybe even carrying it with Him as He climbs Calvary to be crucified. We get to witness firsthand the Resurrection that first Easter and watch as Jesus ascends to Heaven. We sit in the upper room as the Holy Spirit falls upon us. Then, we get a glimpse of the crowning of all time. We have first row seats as Jesus crown His Blessed Mother – the Queen of earth and Heaven.

There is no greater weapon with which a prayer warrior to be armed – a knight of the Immaculata.

“The rosary is the easiest way to honor God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is the surest way to triumph over spiritual enemies, the most suitable way to progress in virtue and sanctity” – Blessed James Alberione
