“God has promised a great grace especially to you and to all those… who will proclaim My great mercy. I shall protect them Myself at the hour of death, as My own glory. And even if the sins of soul are as dark as night, when the sinner turns to My mercy he gives Me the greatest praise and is the glory of My Passion. When a soul praises My goodness, Satan trembles before it and flees to the very bottom of hell.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 378
There’s a quote that came to mind when I read this paragraph this morning. In the movie ‘Heartbreak Ridge”, Clint Eastwood’s character uplifts one of his unjustly punished Marines, telling him, “Don’t let the bastard win.” How appropriate these words are when fighting the evil one.
There is nothing the enemy desires more that to see a soul fall and give up because of its sin. Yes, a mortal sin is a prime target of his but any sin is on his radar. He digs his claws into this soul and drags it down by its own sinful state. He pushed the soul to believe he is so wretched, God can’t forgive him and wants nothing to do with him.
Spiritual ware fare is very real. But, those who love God have a powerful weapon on their side. One of the simplest and most powerful is the remembrance and desire for God’s Divine Mercy. The enemy trembles to the very bottom of the pits of Hell when the soul, frightened to approach God in its sin, remembers and begs God’s mercy.
The light of God’s righteousness and mercy overcomes and crushes the darkness of evil. Satan and his minions can’t handle it. In the Father’s Divine Mercy, He conveys His very light of Holiness upon even the most sinful soul.
Lord, keep me ever mindful of Your Mercy. Help me to always remember that I can turn back to Your light and live through Your Merciful Heart, even if my sins are as scarlet. Surround and protect me in Your promise that the enemy may always flee from my contrite heart’s desire of Divine Mercy.
“With souls that have recourse to My mercy and with those that glorify and proclaim My great mercy to others, I will deal according to My infinite mercy at the hour of their death.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 378
“But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20-21
