Praise Monday – Chains are gone

Spread the love

What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God? Every day, I will sing You a song of praise!

“The soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I Myself take care of it”. Divine Mercy in my soul # 1273

My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace

“Amazing Grace: My chains are gone” is one of my favorite songs to give praise of Divine Mercy.

My surrender and trust in Jesus was not an immediate progression. I didn’t go from sinner to fully trusting God in the snap of the fingers. I’ve talked to many who did have that experience. With a simple choice to surrender to God, they were immediately changed. Long term, chronic sins were just gone as if they never existed. Not so for me.

Yes, the day I gave my life to God was immense and eternity altering. The man I became with that prayer is far separated from the man I was just moments before turning to God.

But, part of me held onto the old man. Habits didn’t break and sins held on tight. Guilt was a big reason. Guilt made surrender and trust nearly impossible. How could I fully surrender and trust in God’s Divine Mercy when I couldn’t forgive myself for past sins or forget who I once was? This guilt sent limits upon God’s Mercy in my life. While He wanted to pour oceans of mercy upon me, to separate me from the sinful man as far as “the east is from the west” (Psalm 103:12), my guilt wouldn’t allow it.

Guilt is like a man grabbing a running hose and crimping the middle to stop the flow of the water. Some water may leak through, but most is stopped. The garden will only receive a trickle of that life giving water. Guilt is a lie of the devil and threatens to cut off the flow of God’s Divine Mercy to the new flowering soul.

In my case, God powered through and broke down my walls. He opened a fire hose of Divine Mercy, like a damn bursting fourth, I couldn’t hold back His Mercy. Even though one may crimp the flow of grace, God’s grace and mercy can and will overcome and break through.

Do you believe your chains are broken? Let there be no doubt – trust in the abundant love and Divine Mercy of God the Father. Trust in His Divine Mercy, Jesus Himself will defend you.

Trust is the key to breaking the chains of sin and guilt. Trust the God is God and in that, He can do anything. Even love a reforming sinner.

Let the water flow!
