Castle – walls

Spread the love

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

A castle isn’t a fortress without strong walls. The walls of this castle are built of faith. Strong faith is a sure defense against any attacks of the world and the enemy.

It’s easy to “lose faith” in life. Undoubtedly we are hit with devastating news, difficult situations, and worries. The storms that come can cause us to doubt God really loves us and knows best for us. It is in these difficult times that it’s vital we recall God’s promises. As followers of Christ, those who have faith are promised blessings and a prosperous future.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

The men at the Alamo stood for days against an army massively outnumbering the few within its walls. The stone and wood walls made a difference but I believe the true strength of their defense was faith. They had faith and hope that the army of Texas would rally to their defense. It didn’t come, but their struggle inspired that army to fight and win independence for Texas.

We need to have this same hope and faith, not in earthly structures or men, but in the Lord. When we realize the Lord is the One fighting for us, that it is God Who is our defense, the fortress of our hearts is surrounded by an impenetrable wall. No enemy can break through.

The soul needs always to be on guard and stand strong. Without doubt, when the castle walls are strong, the enemy will lay siege. He will sit and wait, striking here and there, looking for any weakness. The enemy will make every effort to breakthrough this strong fortress. He knows that breaking through these walls of faith Bring ruin to more than just the castle’s soul. So many other souls depend upon this fortress for defense and sanctuary. If it falls, they have no defense to hide within.

The soul must maintain a strong defense, that is, rest in the hole sacraments, avoid temptation and sin, rest in prayer and seek the Lord in Sacred Scripture. No worries, as strong as the army camped against the castle, strength comes from the Lord. Exodus 15:2, Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 28:7

The Lord, however, strengthens my will, against which all attempts of the enemy are shattered as if against a rock. I see how many actual graces God grants me; these support me ceaselessly. I am very weak, and I attribute everything to the grace of God.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1086,

As this soul becomes stronger in its trust in the Lord, others will seek its protection. It will truly be a beacon on a hill. “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14

These walls do not derive their strength from brick an mortar, this soul’s strength is in Jesus Christ. ” I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
