Castle – towers

Spread the love

“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; my rock and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer,my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues the peoples under me.“ Psalm 144:1-2

The castle’s towers provide flanking fire to a straight part of the curtain wall. Particularly large towers are often the strongest point of the castle. As the gate is always a vulnerable point of a castle, towers may be built near it to strengthen the defences at this point.

Our towers are the people we hold near to us. The towers of our castle protect the walls of faith and the portals through which the enemy may attack. Selected well, these towers can be stronger points along our defenses than the walls, and can be just as critical to protect the soul of the castle.

“And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”. Ecclesiastes 4:12

My towers are very strong. They have defended my faith many times. Their defense has prevented cataclysmic failures. My wife is the strongest tower upon which I rely. Her faith and wisdom related to God has carried me many times over. I rely upon her as I rely upon Christ Himself. This is possible because of our Sacramental Marriage. When we stand together, we are powerful because we are a three ply cord – my wife, Jesus and myself. I am blessed that God has surrounded me with great men and women of Faith. People I can truly lean upon, turn to and count on.

Fellowship with strong Catholic friends is key to the castle’s defense. No castle can stand alone for long. The enemy is relentless and will someday breakthrough. But, with the right towers defending the walls and keeping the portals secure, the power of the castle is multiplied.
