“You cannot be half a saint. You must be a whole saint or no saint at all.” St. Therese of Lisieux
Can you be a Catholic Christian with one foot in Heaven and one foot on earth?
I think we have a lot of halfhearted people filling the pews of churches today. They want to give the bare minimum to the One who gave everything for them. If you try to live as a Christian but live as you please, you will find conflict. Some people have too much of the Lord to be happy in this world, and too much of this world to be happy in the Lord. They’re living in a miserable no-man’s-land.
I’m not judging. I am looking in the mirror. Not necessarily liking what I see. On one hand I give my life to God. Whatever He asks, I do. Ask my friends, when God says jump, I jump. I don’t ask for details or what might happen if I do. Just do it. This is why I was Emmaus ministry head, why I wrote ‘I knew His Voice’, why I share so much every day on this blog and why we live the RV life.
But, on the other hand…. I hold back so much of my will from God. I spend my time doing things I want to do or think are more fun than prayer or reading the Bible. I slothfully walk through the day barely thinking of God even though I know all I do is because of Him and the gifts He’s given.
Fortunately for me, God is the Master Potter and knows how to form the clay of the heart. And, His patient heart is of mercy.
God wants all your heart. Not a tithe or half or even 99%. To get to Heaven the soul must, must be totally 110% sold out for God. Both feet in and full heart of the Spirit.
Say yes and give it all to God. Now. Be a saint.
