“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Psalm 43:1-3
Imagine hearing Jesus say these words to you.
“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
Have you been at that point of hitting bottom with no where to turn? At that moment, you find Jesus there waiting with these words. “I created you, I formed you, I redeemed you, YOU are Mine.”
I’ve been at this point. I had turned my back to God. I knew of Him, was taught of His love. I was raised to believe in Him and turn to Him. But, I didn’t. I hid from God and with words and my life, I blasphemed Him. Despite everything He did to call me back, I ran further from Him.
Then, the day came. I was at wit’s end. Worn down by worry and stress. I felt unredeemable. At the bottom, I fell further – to my knees. I called out for Jesus. And, He answered, “I created you, I formed you, I redeemed you, YOU are Mine.”
Quiet your heart of all the worries, look to God and listen. You are His, Calvary and the cross were for you. The tomb is empty for you. It is God Who has called and redeemed you. Your past can’t stop His Mercy from setting you free of the chains of that past – even if the past won’t let go today. You can never have been or be far enough away that He won’t find you and call you by your name.
Continue to turn to Him, always hearing, “I created you, I formed you, I redeemed you, YOU are Mine.”
