“And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed.” John 3:19-20
Ever drive down a country at night? Or, worse, through Florida or along the Gulf coast during love bug season. Splattered windshields! Ugh!
This is what Jesus is talking about in a sense. We drive eastward through the early morning, as the sun rises, we see our windshield is covered in bugs. It’s hard to see, so we spray the windshield and run the wipers – ugh, big mistake, now it’s worse.
Those who prefer the darkness make a quick right to avoid seeing the bugs on their windshield, aka, their sin. All these souls can see is the sin splattered across their view.
“But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.” John 3:21
Those who look for the light see the sunrise through the bug splatter. They see the sunrise despite the bugs.
This is what God’s grace and mercy does to a searching soul. It allows the soul to see the light despite its sin.
What’s greater is Divine Mercy is the ultimate windshield fluid. As the sun rises before the soul, the wipers may smear the bugs but over time, God’s Mercy will wipe away and full cleanse any gross splatter sin may have caused in the darkness of night.
Be not afraid, drive toward the Son that the light may guide you ever forward, Don’t let what you see as the light begins to show. Keep moving toward, letting God’s Divine Mercy wipe you clean.
