Broken Road

“Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:22

We journey the road of faith every day of our lives. God the Father has the steps planned to lead us home to Him. The road of faith which we walk has no guarantee of smoothness or that it will be paved in golden bricks, only that if we have faith and trust in God, it will lead us to the Father.

We suffer losses that seem insurmountable and pain that can shatter a heart. We bring pain upon ourselves in our sin and by running from God. But, God is always walking beside us.

He never promised us this life would be easy, but He does promise that He is bigger than any storm we face.

Joy in God isn’t having a so-called perfect life by worldly standards, with a mother, father, and 1.5 siblings in a nice roomy house with a white picket fence in a friendly neighborhood in the suburbs; but joy in God is feeling like your life is perfect despite its inevitable turbulence. This is what occurs when you always rely on God for strength, to which God will reward you with peace and joy in every circumstance. Ultimately, you will find that when you rest your hope in God instead of yourself or the world, that every difficulty always works out in the end. You could save yourself the stress of worrying about it in the middle, by simply trusting God that He will provide. It may not be easy in the meantime, but by trusting God for strength, He will build in us the necessary character and perseverance to overcome any circumstance.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

True joy comes from trusting God, putting it al in His Holy Hands and knowing even the broken road lead to Him. And, maybe, you’ll find others lost song that broken road to guide along the way.
