“Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains so that they smoke. Make the lightning flash and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them. Stretch out your hand from on high; set me free and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hand of aliens, whose mouths speak lies, and whose right hands are false.” Psalm 144:5-8
Christmas is coming soon. All good Christian hearts cry out these words from Psalm 145, “bow Thy Heavens, O Lord, and come down.” The Baptist came to bear witness to this event and on Christmas Day, Jesus does just that.
Jesus, the King of Mercy and Son of God, comes down from His Heavens to make His dwelling among us (John 1:14). He comes “full of grace and mercy” that all men who believe in Him and receive Him may receive the “power to become children of God.” John 1:14, 12
He comes in just a few short days that all mankind may be set free of the chains of the evil one. That “the dead in Christ will rise first” in His Divine Mercy and glory.
“O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny
From depths of hell Thy people save
And give them victory o’er the grave”
Rejoice! Rejoice! And, sing with a a new heart, sing a song of redemption and joy today. “I will sing a new song to you, O God” Psalm 144:9 That song may ring out as “I once was dead, but now I live” for al those risen from the death of sin into the fullness of life in Christ Jesus.
New life is given from the darkness of night in the soul. As the ten lepers are made clean by Jesus’ healing touch so are our souls made new. “Even of the sins of souls are as dark as night” (Divine Mercy # 378), His mercy, born Christmas Day, can make us clean with faith and trust. And, when you are made clean, how will you react? Will you hold this treasure close to your heart? Or, will you haphazardly throw this gift around? This gift is so great, we need to be like the leper who returned to give God praise, fall at God’s feet and give Him praise and honor. Then, get up and go forth into the world proclaiming and sharing this gift with others.
“who will proclaim My great mercy. I shall protect them Myself at the hour of death, as My own glory.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 378
God has bowed down from Heaven to bring life to the dead and mercy to the sinner, be His trumpet and blast this good news to the world.
