“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” John 17:17
I read these words and see the Father drawing souls to Himself. God is truth itself. So, to be sanctified in the truth means to be sanctified in God, the Father.
This takes the next step of knowing that God is Holy. Holiness is defined solely by God’s very essence. To be sanctified in the truth of the Father is then, to become holy as God is Holy.
““Be holy, because I am holy.”” 2 Peter 1:16
And, to attain holiness means to become what the Father designed and created the soul to be – a saint.
This prayer of Jesus’ is His effort to lift us home. For the Word Himself is confirming the Father is truth and His Son is truth.
The primary truth Jesus comes tot each us is how deeply, totally and completely loved we are by God, the Father, Who created the world, creation and reigns over it. Jesus asks this Love to consecrate us to His Love.
