“Lord, although You often make known to me the thunders of Your anger, Your anger vanishes before lowly souls. Although You are great, Lord, You allow yourself to be overcome by a lowly and deeply humble soul. O humility, the most precious of virtues, how few souls possess you!” Divine Mercy in My Soul #1436
The sinful soul comes before God, scarlet due to its immense sins. Judgement and doom and coming. The eyes of God are judgement and wrath. God has given the whole of creation to the soul but it spits in the face of its God. Sinful ways tarnish the view it’s Creator sees of it.
Only a contrite soul receives Mercy. A soul without contriteness will not even approach God to ask mercy. Contrite is a ‘feeling or expressing remorse or penitence; affected by guilt.’ To receive mercy, one must ask, truly ask for mercy. Look at the two thieves. One demanded Jesus to save them from the cross, the other realized his sinfulness and begged God’s mercy. Who was saved? Read Luke 23:39-43
Jesus from the cross forgave man for its atrocities. God doesn’t see the sinner but though the wounds of His Son on the cross. The nail holes in His wrist and blood dripping from His brow and body act as a prism through which God sees man.
Jesus’ death placates God’s fury. God could and should destroy mankind for its sins. Today, man’s sins raise a stench to Gods throne beyond Sodom and Gomorrah, beyond the people of Noah’s time. But, now, we have the Divine Mercy gained for us on Golgotha.
