I enjoyed the movie “Hacksaw Ridge” which told the story of Desmond Doss’ heroic actions on Okinawa in WWII. The scene that really struck me was when he had already pulled several wounded from the ridge to safety, worn out he prayed, “Lord, help me get one more.”
The mantra of “one more” has stuck with me. So, when praying over Abraham’s interaction with the Lord outside Sodom from Genesis 18:23-33, I dared to bring this to conversation myself.
Sitting before the Lord, I asked, “Lord, I know the world is a mess and so many are praying that You return with judgment now. But, if I may dare, would You delay and hold back Your judgment if there was but one more righteous soul on earth?” The Lord answered in my heart, “My judgment is righteous and due upon the earth. But, if there is but one more righteous person to be found and returned to my embrace, yes, I will withhold My righteous anger. But, you, my son, must go out, find that soul and bring it to me.”
Jesus is quite clear that His Divine Mercy is the last hope of suffering mankind (Divine Mercy in My Soul #848), and that He will return as the “Just Judge” but not until He opens the gates of mercy (Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1146).
Lord, give me strength and courage to get one more. Just one more. Until all Your children are safe. One more.
Will you climb into the battle to search for wounded souls? When exhausted from the fight, will you beg God for strength to save one more soul? Will you dare to ask God to withhold His righteous anger and judgment to allow you the chance to search for and rescue one more soul?
Desmond Doss was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on Okinawa. Join this fight and rescue “just one more” and your award will make the CMOH pales in comparison.
“Then Abraham came near and said, “Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will you then sweep away the place and not forgive it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” And the Lord said, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will forgive the whole place for their sake.” Abraham answered, “Let me take it upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” Again he spoke to him, “Suppose forty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.” Then he said, “Oh do not let the Lord be angry if I speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.” He said, “Let me take it upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.” Then he said, “Oh do not let the Lord be angry if I speak just once more. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” And the Lord went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.” Genesis 18:23-33
“Speak to the world about My mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fount of My mercy; let them profit from the Blood and Water which gushed forth for them.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 848
