Bible on the Road – Much is Expected

“From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded” Luke 12:48

These words of Jesus should deeply convict you.

As Catholics and Christians, we call God “Father,” “OUR Father.” Think about that prayer and that ‘claim’ we make to dare call God Father. This isn’t something we do haphazardly. Jesus’ whole mission was built around making the Father known to us as Our Father. He didn’t teach us His prayer as ‘MY Father,’. No, it is OUR Father.

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26. “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14 “Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.” Galatians 4:7. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12

Do you call God, “Father”? Do you ever look to Him as Your Father? Then, go back to our topic verse in Luke 12:48. “From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.” What more could be given to a soul then to be God’s son or daughter?

A good father tends to hold his children to a higher standard and with lofty expectations. “To whom much is given…”

If we are truly able to call God “our Father”, we have been given the absolute greatest gift of all time. With this gift is give much responsibility.

Do you strive to live up to the image in your Father’s eyes? He desires the best for you and from you. Is the desire of your heart to make Him proud?
