“Cast the first stone..”, “slave to sin..”, “truth will set you free..”, “truly My disciples”, “the Son sets your free.” All powerful phrases entwined around “I am the Light of the world, whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
We live in a dark world of sin. A world in which the sinners readily condemn others and the gravest sinners love to catch and scorn those whom they feel are the true sinners. Oh how they love stoning the Christian who makes a mistake, no matter how small.
We fight against the world of darkness and against the dark within us (temptation and sin). As we look to follow Jesus more deeply and purely, His Light envelops us. As we soak in His Holy Light, we see things more clearly. We see the sin in the things the world exalts as joys. We see the truth of the abortion agenda, the lies of the leaders, and the dark agenda of the famous and powerful.
As we are set free by this Holy light, we become true disciples. The stones lying ready at our feet lay untouched. Instead, we cast mercy upon the sinner. We are no longer slaves of sin, but are now and always children of the Father in Heaven. We become beacons of light for the Light of the world. Imagine what the world would be like if all Catholics truly shine this light. The true dawn would rise over all mankind.
