“Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out.” John 19:35

Jesus was dead. All hope hung in that cross. The Author of life and mercy crucified by my sins. I’m sorry.

The soldier pierces the side of Jesus with a spear, the intent simply to show the body has no life remaining. But, wait! What is this?!? Blood and water gushes out, the image seen in movies is that the soldier is covered in this blood and water. And, through this action, legend has it that the soldier converts to become a believer.

The Blood and Water from the Sacred Heart of Jesus flows out from this single event over all mankind. Divine Mercy flows from Jesus’ Sacred Heart. But, like the soldier, one must be close enough to receive the graces, to be soaked in this mercy.

Standing at a distance, one can not understand the power of Divine Mercy. The soul must draw near. Coming closer the Jesus, the soul can see and feel the love God has for it. Drawing nearer, the soul is drawn closer still. Don’t push away, don’t turn your eyes. Look upon this event of Divine Love as a great gift. Jesus is on that cross for you. You simply have to draw near to Him and trust.

“It is finished” John 19:30. From the cross, through His Most Sacred Heart, Jesus gives us a mother and eternal life.
