Today let’s go back and focus upon John 6, the famous ‘Bread of Life’ discourse – specifically. John 6:24-35. Slowly and deliberately read through this Gospel, asking God to highlight His teaching for you.

‘Jesus answered them, “Amen, amen, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.” John 6:26
How often do we find ourselves seeking Jesus for what He can provide us? More exactly, for what Jesus can give us of the world. we cry out as did the people who chased Jesus across the lake.
““What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” John 6:30-31
Jesus responds to us as He did to the Jews that day. Why do you ask for food that will leave you hungry? Or drink that leaves you parched? Why do you seek treasured of this world that always leave you wanting more again?
He wants us to cry out to be fed with a spiritual feast. ‘If My people are hungry because of me, I should feed them.”
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35
I pray we find ourselves chasing after Jesus and then asking Him, simply, “Lord, I hunger.” Seek to be fed by the Word in the Bible. But, most importantly, seek to be fed by Jesus Himself in the Eucharist. The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of the Eucharist is the Bread of the Angels.
“Seek first the kingdom of God.” Matthew 6:33
Let the worldly wants and desires fall to the wayside, seek Jesus, then, finding Him, seek to be fed by the true Manna from Heaven – the Eucharist.
