“…and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.” Luke 9:2. “These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “….As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’” Matthew 10-5,7
Is God calling you to proclaim the Kingdom? Can you imagine the reactions of the twelve and the seventy-two when Jesus gave them this mission? A little surprised? Feeling unprepared and undertrained? Inadequacy? A bit of all that and more.
One other thing Connie and I can share with these disciples is a feeling of excitement and energy. They sat before Jesus hearing His words while we heard His guidance through prayer, prophecy and even through His Own Hand.
It isn’t unusual to feel trepidation when Jesus calls you out of the pack of thousands and millions to spread the awesome news the Kingdom of God is at hand. We need to discern and clarify the guidance and even rules of the assigned mission.
But, once we’ve discerned and confirmed the mission we need to jump in with both feet.
When God says go or do, know His Voice and do it. Don’t hesitate. Don’t wait because excuses come in hesitation. Delay builds fear. Fear kills faith. I can guarantee from personal experience that the more we think about it or ask questions, the more we doubt or worry. So, I say, in my experience, when God says go, just go. Don’t ask how you’ll do it, don’t think of how incapable you are of the task. If God says preach, HE will give you the words and the audience. If He says heal, He will give you the power to heal and the patients. He wants you to be ready to answer His call NOT to prepare.
Trust is the key to this mission.
Connie and I have followed God’s Will in this ‘jump in and go’ pattern throughout our married lives. God puts on our hearts what His plan is and we say “yes, Lord” and we do what He has asked with our hearts, trusting Him with the results.
We stepped out in our RV, “Faith”, one year ago at His guidance. We know not where the road leads or who we’ll find along the way. But, God says ‘go! Proclaim the kingdom of God and heal.” We are Catholics through and through. We are always ready to share our faith. Our story has healed several heart and spirits along the Road of Faith so far. If you know me and my story, you know I’m an introvert whom God has changed forever. The introvert fears wash away when He comes up.
Our ministry is through The Road of Faith blog @ www.TheRoadofFaith.net and through our traveling RV life. Pray for us and if you’re a missionary (all reading this are called to this ministry), know we are praying for and supporting you.
Go out upon the Road of Faith. God is waiting to walk along with you.

Ed – your words are always so profound! They along with the Gospel readings lately at Mass make us think of the saying: God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called! We may think that we can’t proclaim the Gospel or that we are not worthy, but look at the original Apostles- not the brightest bulbs, but the in the sheer presence of Our Lord they were willing to drop everything and follow Him- how glorious his presence must have been! We’ll, that should be us, too, as He is with us! Do not be afraid! God bless you and Connie for your continued ventures and ministry! Always praying for you, brother!! Christ, be our light!!
So go do it! Amen!
