Want to start a brawl? Walk down to the local mosque and start talking about God the Father. Tell them how our God is so close to us that He allows and desires that we call Him Abba, Father. It will be like dropping a match in a lake of gasoline.
“No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15
Many religions around the world look at their god as a master and ruler. There is no familial relationship with god. As Christians, we see God differently because of what Jesus Christ said and taught us. Yes, our God IS sovereign over all and has the ultimate power and control of all events. But, we are privileged to be able to call God our Father.
Therefore, our service to God changes over others. They serve their god as a master and owner. He commands and, like slaves, they act. We give God our Father our acts of service through love and respect. We don’t, or shouldn’t, do things out of fear of God’s wrath or punishment. We do things in God’s Name as a child carrying their acts in our Father’s business.
When we act in service to our God, it should be more like we are hanging a sign outside which reads like a newly named business, “Father and son.”
“But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” John 1:12
Our actions bring joy to the Father because we are following in His Spirit of love.
Do you serve God with a feeling of fear and subservience? All our service to God’s Kingdom and people on earth should be done from a place of love for the Father. When we do acts of mercy, they should be done simply to make God smile. Go out and serve the Kingdom today, feel the warmth of love and pride of the Father wash over you.
“for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith” Galatians 3:26
