Being an Apostle of Mercy is Not Easy

You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist an evildoer. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also; and if anyone wants to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well; and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile.” Matthew 5:38-41

If you commit yourself to a full embrace of the Mercy of God in your life, you will be transformed beyond your wildest dreams.

When you try to share that experience with others, you may find the recipients are not always so open. You may encounter – no, you will encounter great difficulties in your attempts to live and proclaim Mercy to a fallen world.

Apostle of My mercy, proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy. Do not be discouraged by the difficulties you encounter in proclaiming My mercy. These difficulties that affect you so painfully are needed for your sanctification and as evidence that this work is Mine. My daughter, be diligent in writing down every sentence I tell you concerning My mercy, because this is meant for a great number of souls who will profit from it.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1142

The world does not understand the Mercy of God. The world only knows harshness and judgment. It seeks revenge and honors pride and self-assertion. However, Mercy is something it does not understand. So, when you embrace Mercy and allow it to be made manifest through your life, it will not always be accepted. You may be misunderstood, labeled as weak and even ignored by many. As Christians, we are held to a standard of Mercy and Holiness. We can never let the world’s reaction or persecution to distract or move us from the standard set by God.

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:44

Do not get discouraged at the rejection you will encounter as you seek to be an apostle of the Mercy of God. This is inevitable, but in that rejection and in every difficulty you encounter, you will discover a new level of holiness as you rest close to the Heart of Christ

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.” Matthew 5:10-11

Rejoice when you give Mercy in exchange for anger or hatred.

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:12
