“Be still and know…” Psalm 46:10

It’s true that throughout your day, God speaks to you. He constantly communicates His truth and direction for your life and bestows His mercy. However, His voice is gentle and silent because He wants all your attention. He won’t compete with your day’s distractions or impose Himself on you. Instead, He waits for you to turn to Him, set aside distractions, and be attentive to His quiet but clear voice.

“Nevertheless, I began to grow a bit negligent. I did not pay attention to these interior inspirations and tried to distract myself. But despite the noise and the distraction, I could see what was going on in my soul. The word of God is clear, and nothing can stifle it. I began to avoid encounters with the Lord in my soul because I did not want to fall prey to illusions. However, in a sense, the Lord kept pursuing me with His gifts; and truly I experienced, alternately, torture and joy. Divine Mercy in My Soul # 130

Do you hear God speak?  Are you attentive to His gentle interior promptings?  Do you let the many distractions of your day drown out God’s voice or do you habitually set those aside, diligently seeking Him all the more?  Seek His interior promptings this day.  Know that these promptings are signs of His unfathomable love for you.  And know, that through them, God is seeking your full attention.

Lord, I love You and desire to seek You in all things.  Help me to be aware of the ways in which You speak to me day and night.  Help me to be attentive to Your voice and to be led by Your gentle hand.  I give myself to You completely my Lord.  I love You and wish to know You more fully.  Jesus, I trust in You.
