“And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the horn.” 2 Samuel 6:14-15
David is bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. He is joyous as they carry the Ark forward, every 30 feet, David stops his dancing to sacrifice an ox and fatling. He dances with such fervent joy that some are angered and dismayed at the sight of the king being so foolish.
David was so joyous because he was dancing before and for the Lord. His joy was for the Lord.
David’s joy for the Ark of the Covenant has nothing on what we have before us.
Our joy is in Jesus Christ. His victory has been complete – He conquered death with His death.
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7
There is no greater reason to dance for joy than the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His Divine Mercy.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
Let go of your fear. Don’t let fear that you can’t dance or of what others may think if they see you so joyous. A sinner who had never before stood before the Lord in His Holiness can dance more beautifully than the greatest saint, if he but asks God for mercy. Talent is no measure of saintly skill nor limit to the joy felt in joining this dance.
Oh, but what will others think? They will laugh and make fun of me. Well, I say, that is there problem. If they don’t want to join this joyous dance before the Lord, it is their loss. You don’t lose this joy – dance dance dance.
Sing, dance and be merry, for the Lord is victorious and us with Him.
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God” Isaiah 61:10
“Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” Psalm 32:11
“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory” 1 Peter 1:8
The unbelief has f something has tried hard to mess we me. God doesn’t s enough. When I read or sing something holy and love God and cry with joy, the thing causing unbelief pretends more is needed. My belief is my faith and dance is enough. It’s must GO!
