Praying this morning for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit to bring new life and strength to my fight, seeking the ‘Valley of Dry Bones’ in Ezekiel. Instead, the Lord led me to Ezekiel 36:26-27.
“A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you” Ezekiel 36:26-27
The Holy Spirit put this verse on my heart as a mantra prayer for the upcoming Lent and year. Strangely though, as much as I was asking God for a new, clean and strong heart to fend off temptation and sin as well as being stronger and more focused upon God’s mission for my life. He put the focus upon Ezekiel 37:27 – “I will put My Spirit within you.”
I journaled a prayer that God put the Holy Spirit within me as a new baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is within this Holy Spirit fired baptism that we are reborn and recast. A new heart of flesh put within our body. A new flame of love branded brightly into our soul. This Pentecostal fire of the Holy Spirit that makes Divine Mercy come alive and become permanently etched upon our spirit.
Anyone who thinks they can fight ahead the battles that will befall upon the soul is sadly mistaken. This isn’t our fight against the world, it is the Lord’s fight to win. His fight which we join against principalities and powers.
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.” Exodus 14:14
Come Holy Spirit! Enflame the hearts of Your faithful that we may stand in Your Cleansing Fire and receive Your baptism. Pour down all Your Gifts upon us Lord, that we may be able to stand with You against the powers of this present world. That we may stand as a fiery beacon for all to see, pure and strong in Your Power. Make us strong, invincible with Your Holy Fire, O Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit, come. Come now and rest within our hearts. Come Holy Spirit as a permanent guest that the demons who once attacked us in sin may return and find You present. Come Holy Spirit.
