A man’s mission

Spread the love

“God assigns the dignity of every woman as a task to every man” St John Paul II

“you husbands should live with your wives in understanding, showing honor to the weaker female sex, since we are joint heirs of the gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered” 1 Peter 3:7

Every day I pray for the safety, purity and sanctification of my wife and every night after we pray together, I bless her to protect her soul and lift it up to sanctity in Jesus Christ.  My wife is the disciple who reached into my dark life and showed me Jesus Christ, probably for the first time ever. She didn’t do it by words but by simple deeds – in all things, preach the Gospel, only when necessary, use words.  That is what she did, my wife led me to see Christ in her life, lived. Then she led me back to Mass, again not forced or even asked, just led by going.

I owe her my salvation.  Because of her, I got into the boat and then by the love and mission of Jesus, I stepped out of that boat.

Now as I grow in faith and knowledge, I learn my duties, responsibilities and the strength within.  The primary mission I have been blessed with by the Father is the dignity of this woman, His precious daughter.  I honor her in my actions and prayers as the ‘weaker sex’ but make no mistake, there is no weakness in this woman.  She is strong in the faith. To her, trust in God is as natural as a heartbeat. She is a strong leader and has no doubt of God’s presence and love.

This Valentine’s Day, I give praise to God for making us joint heirs to the fullness of His Life.  Separate we are strong but together, I do not doubt the power we have in our Sacramental Marriage – the power that comes from Jesus.

We feed off of each other, my weakness is her strength and the things I do strongest are more hidden points with her soul.  I am the one to ‘stand on the corner and preach’ or to openly pray with or over another. She is the one to find strength in the peace of her inner room and draw the needs of a soul from within itself.  I charge forward and in doing so, sometimes stumble, while she remains a steady foundation to lift me up and put me back on the path again.

“He has put into my heart a marvelous love ” Psalm 16:2

Today Father, like every day I ask Your full blessing and love to pour down upon my wife.  Give her strength to stand tall and faith to draw power and share. Keep Your voice always strong in her heart.

Holy Spirit, today I ask You to take all the graces of Jesus Christ and rain them upon my wife. Give her strength of faith to always trust and know the love of God.

Mary, Mother, guide me and lead me to be the strength, support and guide to my wife as Joseph had been with you, protector and supporter.

Give us together, Holy God, the depth of love for each other that You have within the Trinity, always making it known that we may continue to share the truth of Your Love and presence to all who need clarity of faith. Today let us see and share that the only “Valentine” heart that truly matters is Your Sacred Heart. Amen
