“..my own eyes have seen the salvation which you have prepared in the sight of every people: a light to reveal you to the nations and the glory of your people Israel.” Luke 2:30-32
The words Simeon spoke when he saw Jesus as His parents brought Him to the temple. Why write a reflection on these words days before Christmas?
The Lord will reveal His Light to the world in just a few days. A Light revealed in the sight of EVERY person.
I can attest to this Light and the power it has over darkness. I have met the Light. I have heard His voice. In “I knew His Voice”, my book available on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/1514713543/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_zZd0FbM392SK0) I write of the times He spoke to me and of the miracle visit Jesus made to my daughter.
He has done so much more for me than these. Jesus set His Light upon my heart in the Divine Mercy. That Saturday morning in a quiet ICU, Jesus gave me the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and a great defender, teacher, friend and patroness in St. Faustina. That night, in the darkest of hours, the Light shone forth. It took several months and then more years to fully realize the brilliance of this light.
It is the same for the world. Jesus planted the Light within the world on that first Christmas Eve. The Light He brought to the world has changed everything. Even for the atheist heart. He brought Love, for He IS Love (1 John 4:8). From the light of this love has blossomed change the likes that has never been witnessed. Hospitals, schools, women’s rights and so much more. The Bible was the seed of reading as the first mass produced book.
The most important thing Jesus brought that spread light a spotlight in a dark room – hope.
As Christians we know the end of life is just the beginning. This faith is born of the hope born that night. Divine Mercy was born that evening, it may not have made itself evident for another 33 years upon the cross, but Divine Mercy was revealed in the King of Peace on Christmas. And, in Divine Mercy, redemption.
In that ICU, Jesus opened Divine Mercy to my soul. This is the greatest gift I’ve ever received. I went from a man struggling with sin and understanding of forgiveness. From that night, I became a free man. Free of the lies of the enemy. That is the power Divine Mercy had in me.
If you haven’t purchased Divine Mercy in my soul, St. Faustina’s diary, I highly recommend it. As the first year of THEROADOFFAITH closes out, I am humbled that THEROADOFFAITH is being read and shared on 4 continents in nations including, Ireland, Argentina, Australia, Korea and the Philippines.
I am considering what reflections and thoughts will come in 2021 and beyond. I feel God placing on my heart a path alongside Scripture in Lectio Divina and deeply into Divine Mercy. We will see. Share your thoughts.
Next year, I do plan to add a prayer request page to my blog. Currently, my wife and I prayer nightly for each of you. My hope is this page will give you an opportunity to ask for specific intercessions and allow me the grace to pray for and with you.
