“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice in so far as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” 1 Peter 4:12-13
I am so humbled by these words in 1 Peter and how God spoke them to my heart this morning. God’s voice spoke to my heart, telling me, “it is I Who trusted you in trials. It is I Who trust you first. Like Job, I gave the authority for you to be tested, not to hurt you or punish but, because I trusted your faith and decisions would draw you closer to Me. So, if I trust YOU, trust Me. Who is more worthy of that trust, the created or the Creator?”
That God has allowed my struggles because He trusts me brings me tearfully to my knees. I had never done anything to earn His trust. I have more consistently turned my back on Him than committed myself to God. But, trust He does anyway. In His attributes, I am lifted..
God is Omniscient – the Father knows everything. He knows what I can and will handle. With this knowledge, God can guide me along paths to lead me to Him.
God is Omnipotent – El Shaddai! God is all powerful. He alone is in total control. He may give me more than I think I can handle but only that I see it is through His strength that I do all things (Philippians 4:13).
God is Omnipresent – God is everywhere all the time. He has always been with me and will never leave my side. He sees all time and is present here and now.
God is Mercy – God is Mercy Itself! Though I have failed and deserve the judgment of condemnation, God in all His Divine Mercy holds back what I deserve to give me what He has earned on the cross – mercy.
God is Love – in the Father’s love, He ties everything together. I know the Father’s love will always be the deciding and overwhelming factor in how He deals with me. In His love, I can call God my Father – Abba, Daddy.
When I hear His voice, understanding His Divine Attributes, I know God is strong enough to handle any situation that presents itself to me, no matter how dark or bad. I know He has seen the outcome and knows what I need to go through while never leaving my side – even in the dark night. His love and mercy open the floodgates of Heaven. He leaves nothing unused to guide me and in His tireless power, to guide me and carry me home.
What a Great God we have!
Humble yourself and trust God knows the best way for your life. As His beloved child, even if you walk through the valley of darkness, suffering Calvary itself, Jesus is always there to lift your cross, the Father God is always looking ahead to the best path and the Holy Spirit is always lighting the way with His Holy Fire. He never loses trust in you, trust Him.
When the sea seems empty around you and you don’t know which way to go, let God be your North Star.
Amen!
Thank you!
